Message from the Executive Director

“From Brick and Mortar to Housing Opportunities for Success”

On behalf of the Mechanicville Housing Authority (MHA) Board of Commissioners and staff welcome to our Website’s “new look” reshaping how we deliver services and communicate with those we conduct business and our Community. We encourage you to visit the Website for information on Programs, Requests for Proposals, latest news, and announcements.

For more than 70 years affirmatively furthering fair housing, MHA has promoted adequate, sustainable, affordable housing and economic opportunity assisting eligible low to moderate income families and individuals towards self-sufficiency including elderly, disabled, veterans, victims of domestic violence, families with children and those experiencing housing instability or homelessness.

MHA understands having access to an affordable and safe place to live provides families and individuals with a foundation for not only improving their economic well-being but all areas related to quality of life.

From Brick and Mortar to Housing Opportunities for Success, MHA promotes investment in partnerships and collaboration with local service providers by sponsoring and administering Programs such as Family Self-Sufficiency and Homeownership. These Programs are designed to promote economic independence reducing and eliminating the need for public assistance. Eligible residents who qualify are offered unprecedented opportunities for increased earnings, build financial capability and assets, including employment training, higher education and make home ownership a reality.

As an Affordable Housing Provider, MHA has a history of supporting and contributing to the local economy, contracting with and supporting businesses, preserving and creating jobs through investment of millions of federal dollars in sustainable capital improvements. MHA pays taxes annually to the City derived by a federal formula. Furthermore, rental subsidies paid out in the Section 8 Program help improve and maintain the housing stock and tax rolls through annual inspections drawing landlords’ attention to needed repairs and providing Fair Market Rents.

Dedicated to making a difference in lives of individuals and families, MHA will continue to be a catalyst for change developing and cultivating an economically sustainable, desirable community where everyone can thrive.

Should you have any questions or require additional information about our Programs, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,
– John A. Enzien, Executive Director/Secretary
